Box Score COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Softball (26-18, 9-8) took game two of its series against Texas A&M (25-20, 3-14), 8-0, at Mizzou Softball Stadium on Friday evening after winning the series opener Thursday night. The Mizzou offense was fantastic early on, scoring all eight runs in the first two innings of the game to close the door early.
Sophomore P Cassie Gasper pitched her third-career complete game shutout, allowing four hits over five innings pitched. Gasper didn't allow any runs, but also didn't notch a single strikeout en-route to her 11th win of the season. The defense was phenomenal behind the sophomore righty, as the infield, led by sophomore 3B Kimberly Wert, made play after play to keep the Aggies off the scoreboard.
TOP TIGERS
- Sophomore DP Kara Decker continued her recent success at the plate, recording one hit and two RBI with her single to center field in the bottom of the first. It was Decker's second multi-RBI game of the season.
- Redshirt freshman 2B Kendyll Bailey continues her uptick at the plate, as she went a perfect 2-2 against the Aggeis. It was just her second multi-hit game of the season.
- Sophomore C Hatti Moore was explosive once again on offense, scoring twice while going a perfect 1-1 at the plate. Moore also drew a walk and notched an RBI.
- Sophomore CF Brooke Wilmes joined Moore and Bailey as the only Tigers on the night to notch a hit and a run scored, going 1-3 at the plate with one run.
TURNING POINT
The Tigers got off to a hot start, scoring three quick runs in the first inning. The Tigers benefited from some Aggie miscues throughout the game, including an E3 in the first that would score Mizzou's first run of the night in freshman SS Jazmyn Rollin. Decker would take advantage of the error, smashing a single to center that would plate both Wert and Moore.
The first inning proved to be the momentum changer, as the Tigers would put up a five-spot in the second inning to follow it up. Gasper didn't allow any runs, and the Tigers took game two and the series.
