Storylines
- Mizzou and Georgia square off for the first time this season and for the 13th time in their program histories. Mizzou is looking for just its second ever victory in Athens and its first since an 83-76 win on Jan. 3, 2008. A win on Wednesday would give Mizzou two victories in the last three tries vs. Georgia after dropping the previous six games in the head-to-head series.
- Mizzou is coming off Saturday's 15-point victory over South Carolina as the Tigers are looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since reeling off six straight victories in December.
- Freshman Torrence Watson paced Mizzou with a career-high 20 points vs. the Gamecocks, leading Mizzou in scoring in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. It marked the sixth time the Tigers have been led in scoring by a freshman in league play. The freshmen trio of Watson, Javon Pickett and Xavier Pinson have racked up 39 combined starts this season. The trio has accounted for 35.7 percent of Mizzou's scoring in SEC play and 38.9 percent over the last five games.
- Since Nov. 18, senior point guard Jordan Geist has reached double figures 21 times in the last 25 games. Geist has scored 15+ points 12 times this season after notching 15+ just six times in his previous two seasons combined.
- The Tigers have outrebounded their opponent 21 times in 28 games this season, including six consecutive opponents. Mizzou is limiting opponents to 31.6 rebounds per game during league play, which ranks second in the SEC behind only Kentucky, and is 33rd nationally. Mizzou has snagged at least 31 boards in all but five games this season. Mizzou outrebounded South Carolina, 39-27, on Saturday and has now outpaced three of the last five opponents on the glass by double-digits.
- Mizzou has held opponents under 70 points 37 times in the Martin era, which amounts to 60.7 percent of the games with him at the helm. When the Tigers have done so this season, they are 12-4.
Puryear
- Senior Kevin Puryear is coming off his best outing of the season with a season-best 18 points in the win over South Carolina, reaching double figures for the 60th time in his career.
- Puryear went 8-for-9 from the line vs. the Gamecocks. His 79.1 career free throw percentage is the best by a four-year Tiger since Marcus Denmon - 79.9 percent from 2008-12.
- Puryear started his 116th career game. He is the sixth Tiger to reach 116 starts and the first since Arthur Johnson started 123 games from 2001-04.
- Puryear is the fifth Tiger in program history with at least 1,000 career points, 600 career rebounds & 116 career starts, joining legends Kelly Thames, Steve Stipanovich, Arthur Johnson and Derrick Chievous.
- Puryear has now moved up to 28th on Mizzou's all-time scoring list with 1,217 points and counting, surpassing Jim Kennedy, Jason Sutherland, Jimmy McKinney and Norm Stewart, among others. He is just 14 points shy of Leo Lyons at 27th.
