Play begins Sunday, March 24 and concludes Tuesday, March 26
Awendaw, S.C. – Mizzou Men's Golf continues its spring season this week at the nationally-renowned Hootie at Bull's Bay tournament just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. The Tigers will compete Sunday, March 24-Tuesday, March 26 at the 6,104-yard, par-72 Bull's Bay course.
Mizzou placed fifth against a vaunted field at The Hootie last spring, led by Scottish duo Jamie Stewart and Rory Franssen, who both snagged Top-15 individual finishes. Stewart and Franssen will once again top Mizzou's lineup at the tournament this week. The pair will be joined by senior Matt Echelmeier, freshman Tommy Boone and senior Luigi Botta.
Mizzou is coming off its fifth Top-5 finish in eight tournaments during the 2018-19 campaign and its fourth Top-3 finish after tying for third at the GCU Invitational last weekend. Stewart led the Tigers with a third-place individual finish out of 112 competitors. Stewart has been the Tigers' lowest scorer in every tournament this season.
Franssen collected his third under-par tournament last week at the GCU Invitational. He enters The Hootie at Bull's Bay with 10 rounds under par in 2018-19. Echelmeier is coming off his third Top-20 individual performance of his senior campaign last week while Boone joins the lineup for just the third time in his career. Boone fired a career-low 54-hole score of 218 at the GCU Invitational. Botta rounds out the Tigers' lineup, as the veteran is set to compete in his 16th career tournament.
