PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mizzou Wrestling wrapped up its bouts at the 2019 NCAA Division I Championships Saturday afternoon (March 23) and saw four of its nine qualifiers place in the top six of their respective weight classes. RS junior Jaydin Eierman earned third at 141 and RS senior Daniel Lewis took fourth at 174. Additionally, RS senior John Erneste (133) and true freshman Brock Mauller (149) earned sixth-place nods. All four are All-Americans, giving Mizzou at least four All-Americans in three straight seasons. With the finals yet to be contested during tonight's sixth session, Mizzou currently sits sixth in the team race, 6.5 points ahead of seventh-place Cornell.

Below are the four Mizzou wrestlers who concluded their seasons Saturday morning and where they finished:

  • RS Senior 133 Pounder John Erneste – Sixth Place – All-American (first in his career)
  • RS Junior 141 Pounder Jaydin Eierman – Third Place – All-American (three-time AA, best career finish)
  • Freshman 149 Pounder Brock Mauller – Sixth Place – All-American (best career finish)
  • RS Senior 174 Pounder Daniel Lewis – Fourth Place – All-American (four-time AA, matches best finish)

Below are the team scores for the top teams with just one session remaining:

  1. Penn State – 123.5
  2. Ohio State – 96.5
  3. Oklahoma State – 84.0
  4. Iowa – 72.0
  5. Michigan – 62.5
  6. Mizzou – 62.0
  7. Cornell – 55.5

Eierman defeated No. 9 Dom Demas of Oklahoma, using an escape point and a riding time point to earn a 2-0 victory. It is his best career finish at the national tournament after earning fourth a year ago and fifth as a freshman. He is the program's eighth three-time All-American.

Lewis seemed to be in control of his third-place bout as he was riding out No. 4 Myles Amine of Michigan with the combatants knotted at 2-2. He nearly tallied a nearfall to take the lead, but seconds later Amine scored a reversal to take a 4-2 lead. Lewis tallied a late escape, but fell one point shy to earn fourth place, matching his best career finish at the NCAA Championships. He finishes his Tiger career as just the third four-time All-American in program history, joining Ben Askren and J'den Cox. His 53 career pins are second-most in program history and he is just the eighth four-time MAC Champion at any weight class.

Erneste and Mauller each lost their fifth-place bouts to take sixth. Erneste, despite falling 11-6 to No. 7 Austin DeSanto of Iowa, earned an elusive All-America honor during his final NCAA Championships as the sixth-place nod is the best finish of his career. Mauller dropped his sixth-place bout to No. 5 Matthew Kolodzik of Princeton, 10-6, to earn sixth. His placement is the best by a Mizzou true freshman since J'den Cox won a national title in 2013-14.
