#ShowMe Mizzou Game Notes
Series History vs. Murray State
- Mizzou leads the all-time series over Murray State, 9-8.
- The two teams last met two years ago at Taylor Stadium (May 2, 2017) for a midweek contest. The Tigers dominated the Racers in an 11-0 shutout victory.
- Before the aforementioned meeting two seasons ago, Mizzou and Murray State hadn't met since the 1987 campaign.
Pitching Staff Shines Despite Team's Tough Weekend at No. 10 Arkansas
- It was a tough past weekend (March 15-17) at No. 10 Arkansas collectively for Mizzou, but the Tiger pitching staff arose to the challenge in their 2019 Southeastern Conference series opener.
- The Razorbacks' offense entered last weekend as one of the top hitting teams in the SEC and NCAA. Mizzou's pitching staff limited Arkansas' bats to six earned runs, nearly a strikeout per inning pitched (23 Ks in 24.1 IP) and a .190 batting average against.
- Junior LHP Jacob Cantleberry (6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K), junior LHP TJ Sikkema (8.0 IP, 3 ER, 2 BB, 10 K) and senior LHP Tyler LaPlante (6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K) did all they could with fantastic starts on the bump.
- The Tiger relievers were also fantastic, as senior RHP Jordan Gubelman (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K) and senior RHP Cameron Dulle (2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 K) limited the powerful Razorbacks lineup.
- With Gubelman's dominant 2.0 innings of work Friday evening, he's currently riding a 9.1 consecutive scoreless innings pitched streak.
- Saturday afternoon, Sikkema went the distance and matched his career-high with 10 strikeouts. It was the second double-digit strikeout performance of his career, joining his 10 punch out performance last year vs. Vanderbilt (April 19, 2018).
Mizzou Offense Shining at Taylor Stadium
- The Tiger offense has surely enjoyed hitting in their friendly confines of Taylor Stadium in 2019, aiding the team's perfect 6-0 record at home.
- Collectively, Mizzou is hitting .327 (64-for-196) with 71 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 62 RBI and 17 stolen bases over its home schedule.
