Storylines
- Mizzou and South Carolina are set for a rematch in Columbia West after the Gamecocks prevailed 85-75 in a tight battle on Jan. 13. The two teams have split the last four meetings.
- Head coach Cuonzo Martin is 6-1 all-time against South Carolina in his career.
- Since Nov. 18, senior point guard Jordan Geist is averaging 15.1 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 37.6 percent from 3-point range and boasting a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. He has reached double figures 20 times in the last 24 games. Geist has scored 15+ points 11 times this season after notching 15+ just six times in his previous two seasons combined. HE reached double figures for a career-best ninth consecutive game with a team-high 16 points at Florida before snapping that streak at Mississippi State on Tuesday night with just seven points and six rebounds.
- The Tigers have outrebounded their opponent 20 times in 27 games this season, including in seven of the last eight contests. Mizzou is limiting opponents to 31.9 rebounds per game during league play, which ranks second in the SEC behind only Kentucky, and is 39th nationally. Mizzou has snagged at least 31 boards in all but five games this season. The Tigers rank fourth in the league in offensive rebounds per game during SEC action with 11.3 per outing after grabbing 16 at Mississippi State. Mizzou outrebounded the Bulldogs 39-28.
- Mizzou has held opponents under 70 points 36 times in the Martin era, which amounts to 60.0 percent of the games with him at the helm. When the Tigers have done so this season, they are 11-4.
- Mizzou's win over Arkansas marked the Tigers' first victory of the season when allowing 70+ points.
- At Mississippi State, Mizzou was led in scoring by a freshman for the fifth time in league play as Torrence Watson scored 12 points. The freshmen trio of Watson, Javon Pickett and Xavier Pinson have racked up 37 combined starts this season.
Success on the Glass
- Mizzou outrebounded No. 4 Kentucky 34-28 on Feb. 19, marking just the fourth time this season the Wildcats were outrebounded in a game and the second time during league play.
- Mizzou grabbed 16 offensive boards vs. Kentucky, corralling 13+ in three straight games for the first time since 2012.
- After outrebounding Ole Miss 37-21, Mizzou has a +34 margin on the glass over its last four games.
- Mizzou outrebounded Mississippi State, 39-28, and has now outrebounded its opponent in seven of the last eight games and in 10 of the last 12 contests.
- Mizzou has snagged 10+ offensive boards 16 times this season, including 16 at Mississippi State. The Tigers have grabbed 13+ in five of the last seven games and at least nine in 10 consecutive games.
Puryear at 115 Career Starts
- Senior Kevin Puryear became the first Tiger to reach the century mark in starts since Kim English in 2012. He is the seventh Tiger to reach 115 starts and is on pace to finish fifth all-time at Mizzou in career starts with four guaranteed games remaining.
- Puryear is now the fifth Tiger in program history with at least 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds & 115 career starts, joining legends Kelly Thames, Steve Stipanovich, Arthur Johnson and Derrick Chievous.
- Puryear has now moved up to 29th on Mizzou's all time scoring list with 1,199 points and counting, surpassing Jason Sutherland, Jimmy McKinney and Norm Stewart, among others.
Tough Defense
- Mizzou has held three consecutive opponents and five of its last eight opponents under 70 points. The Tigers are 11-4 when they do that this season.
- Mizzou ranks second in the SEC in 3-point field goal percentange defense (32.7 percent). Mizzou is the only SEC team to rank in the top five in the league in both 3-point defense and 3-point field goal percentage (fourth - 36.6 percent).
- Mizzou held Florida to a season-low three triples last Saturday.
