Tigers tally season-high 13 runs against the Bulldogs

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball (5-4) opened its 2019 home schedule in style Tuesday evening at Taylor Stadium, posting a comfortable 13-5 victory over Alabama A&M. The Tigers saw production up and down the lineup, as eight individuals tallied a hit and seven individuals posted an RBI.

Mizzou certainly took advantage of a shaky Alabama A&M pitching staff, as it drew 12 walks at the plate. Four errors by the visiting Bulldogs also proved to be beneficial for the Tigers, highlighted by a three-run fourth inning, four-run fifth inning and six-run seventh inning.

On Tuesday night's contest against the Bulldogs…

"It started well in the first inning with Trae (Robertson) having a great inning. Then it concluded with Luke (Mann) having a solid inning on the mound in the ninth. It started slow on offense, but we were able to take advantage with some opportunities that Alabama A&M gave us and that's what you have to do in games like today."

On the offense adjusting against Alabama A&M's starting pitcher…

"It took us a little bit to adjust there. We were able to string a couple hits together in the fourth inning and put a few runs on the scoreboard."

On being able to maintain focus in a game like tonight…

"The weather started out nice, but then the sun goes down and it gets really cool. Your mind can wander about how cold it is, but you have to lock back in and finish the game out. I thought we were kind of up and down all game."

The Tigers improved to 4-0 all-time against Alabama A&M.
Mizzou's 13 runs Tuesday evening marked a new season-high, surpassing the previous top mark of 12 set on Feb. 23 vs. Rhode Island.
The Tigers tallied 10 hits against the Bulldogs, marking their fifth double-digit hit output of the season.
James and McDaniel finished with multi-hit efforts at the plate, marking their first and fourth occurrence of the season, respectively.
McDaniel has been particularly hot at the dish as of late, posting multi-hit games in four of his past five times out on the field.
Brumfield's four RBI Tuesday established a new single-game career-high. His previous standard of three RBI in a game was accomplished five different times in his previous three years as a Tiger.
Mizzou continues to run wild on the basepaths early in 2019, recording four more stolen bases against Alabama A&M. The Tigers have recorded multiple stolen bases in a game six times already this year, including four-plus swipes five times.
