Storylines
- Mizzou snapped an eight-game losing streak in the head-to-head series with Ole Miss when the Tigers secured their first ever win in Oxford a season ago. In that victory, current Mizzou seniors Jordan Geist and Kevin Puryear combined for 22 points. Puryear scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and Geist chipped in 10 points and a season-high six assists.
- Mizzou improved to 10-3 on the season when Jeremiah Tilmon has reached double figures and 5-2 when he has scored at least 15 points after the sophomore poured in 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting vs. Arkansas. He's reached double figures in five of his last seven games, playing at least 26 minutes in each of his last eight contests after leading Mizzou to its third straight win over Arkansas in Columbia.
- Since Nov. 18, senior point guard Jordan Geist is averaging 15.0 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 38.7 percent from 3-point range and boasting a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. He has reached double figures 17 times in the last 20 games. He has scored 15+ points nine times this season after notching 15+ just six times in his previous two seasons combined.
- After piling up 39 rebounds vs. Arkansas, including 16 offensive boards, Mizzou has outrebounded its opponent 16 times in 23 games this season. Mizzou is limiting opponents to 32.9 rebounds per game during league play, which ranks fourth in the SEC behind Kentucky, Tennessee and Ole Miss. Mizzou has snagged at least 30 boards in all but four games this season.
- Mizzou has held opponents under 70 points 33 times in the Martin era, which amounts to 60 percent of the games with him at the helm. When the Tigers have done so this season, they are 11-1. Tuesday's win over Arkansas marked the Tigers' first victory of the season when allowing more than 70 points.
- After turning the ball over 61 times in three games from Jan. 23-Jan. 30, Mizzou has coughed it up just 42 times in four games since then. Mizzou is 9-1 when having fewer turnovers than its opponent.
Freshmen Trio
- Mizzou's trio of freshmen - Xavier Pinson, Torrence Watson and Javon Pickett - is settling in, accounting for 38 percent of Mizzou's scoring, 47.8 percent of Mizzou's assists and 25.2 percent of Mizzou's rebounding over the last six games. The trio has combined to post 25.8 points per game, 5.3 assists per game and 9.2 rebounds per game in that span.
- In Mizzou's win over Vanderbilt on Feb. 2, Mizzou's freshmen and sophomores accounted for 57 of Mizzou's 77 total points.
- 58.2 percent of Mizzou's scoring this season has come from players who are freshmen or sophomores, and that doesn't include transfer Dru Smith, who averaged 13.7 points per game as a sophomore at Evansville. 68.8 percent of Mizzou's scoring has come from players slated to return in 2019-20.
- Pickett has started all 23 games during his rookie season. In addition to being Mizzou's defensive stopper, Pickett has reached double figures nine times this season.
- Watson has reached double figures in three of the last five games. matching his career-high with 12 points vs. Texas A&M.
- Pinson has logged at least 27 minutes in four of the last five games. He's chipped in at least eight points in six of the last seven contests, including 11 points and a career-high nine rebounds in 30 minutes vs. Arkansas (hit two late buckets to help seal the win).
Tilmon Dominating
- Sophomore standout forward Jeremiah Tilmon is coming off a dominant 21-point (8-of-11 FG) performance vs. Arkansas. Tilmon is the only player in the SEC to score at least 21 points and collect three blocks against Arkansas' Daniel Gafford this season.
- Tilmon has scored 15+ points in three of his last four games. In those four outings, he averaged 19.5 PPG and 6.0 RPG while shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 81.8 percent from the free throw line.
- Tilmon has played 27+ minutes in eight consecutive games for the first time in his career.
- Tilmon was named SEC Player of the Week on Dec. 24, his first career conference award and Mizzou's first since Kassius Robertson on Feb. 12 of last season.
- Tilmon is shooting a team-high 57.3 percent from the floor this season, which ranks fourth in the SEC. He's made 71 of his last 117 FG attempts (60.7 percent).
- His career field goal percentage - 56.8 percent - ranks fourth all-time in program history.
- Tilmon's production is key to the Tigers' success. In Mizzou's 12 wins, Tilmon is averaging 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 60.4 percent from the field and playing 304 total minutes. In Mizzou's losses, he's putting up 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 51.7 percent from the field and playing 242 total minutes.
- He has scored in double figures 25 times in his career. Mizzou is 21-4 in those games, including 10-3 this season.
- Tilmon has been dominant at home this season, reaching double figures in nine of 13 games thus far and posting three of his four double-doubles.
