COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer is back in action this week, facing Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 18. The Tigers are looking to continue their rise up the SEC standings on the road.
ON TAP THIS WEEK
- Back in the win column for the first time since Sept. 15, Mizzou Soccer will look to get its second SEC win of the season on the road at Kentucky.
- Kickoff between the two programs will be at 6:30 p.m. CT from Wendell and Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.
- The match will be streamed digitally on the SEC Network+.
LAST TIME OUT
- Mizzou split their two games on the weekend, falling to Vanderbilt, 2-1 on the road, before coming back to down Tennessee at home for the first SEC win of the season.
- Madison Lewis (Zionsville, Ind.) put the Tigers on the scoreboard with a goal in the 50' minute to give Mizzou its first lead of the SEC season against Vanderbilt on Thursday, but the Commodores would respond with two goals over the next 21 minutes for the win.
- On Sunday, Mizzou saw the duo of Julissa Cisneros (Moreno Valley, Calif.) and Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) score in the final 10 minutes to give the Tigers their first conference win of the year against the Lady Vols.
LOOKING AT THE OPPONENT...KENTUCKY
- The Wildcats are seeking their first points in the SEC race, sitting with an 0-6 record in conference play.
- Kentucky has a dangerous offensive threat in freshman Hannah Richardson. The Illinois-native has eight goals on the season – tied for third in the conference.
- Mizzou holds an 8-1-1 advantage all-time against Kentucky, and have won seven-straight over its eastern foe.
A MATH EQUATION IS A MATH EQUATION
- Mizzou is looking to get back in the SEC race after falling to a 1-4-1 record through the first three weeks of conference play.
- With four points, the Tigers are currently in 12th place in the SEC standings, needing to climb two spots to reach the SEC Tournament. The program is four points back of Tennessee on the leaderboard, but hold the tiebreaker over the Lady Vols following Sunday's 2-0 victory.
- Since joining the conference in 2012, Mizzou has never missed the SEC Tournament.
SHEEHAN MAKES HER DEBUT
- True freshman McKenna Sheehan (Cary, Ill.) has filled in nicely in goal for redshirt sophomore Peyton Bauman (Flower Mound, Texas) – as the latter has been out with an illness.
- Sheehan earned her first collegiate victory on Sunday, positing a shutout against Tennessee.
- Through four appearances, the true freshman is 1-2, and has posted 11 saves. She has a goals against average mark of 1.56.
