Cunningham leads Mizzou in points and rebounds with 17 and six, respectively
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 25 Mizzou Women's Basketball (15-6, 4-3 SEC) fell to No. 15/12 Kentucky, 52-41, on Thursday evening in Lexington. Mizzou held a 21-18 lead at halftime but was unable to overcome a third scoring burst that saw the Wildcats outscore the Tigers, 18-7, in the third quarter.
Senior guard Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) played all 40 minutes in the game, as she led Mizzou in scoring with 17 points and rebounds with six. The Tiger senior was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the game, and made 3-of-7 shots from beyond the three-point line.
TURNING POINT
Mizzou led for the majority of the first half and entered the locker room with a 21-18 advantage, but Kentucky was able to score the first six points of the third quarter to take the lead. Kentucky outscored Mizzou, 18-7, in the third period, and led 36-28 heading in the final period. Late in the fourth quarter, Mizzou was able to cut Kentucky's lead down to five, but was never able to regain the lead.
TOP TIGERS
- Cunningham scored 17 points in the game to lead Mizzou in scoring for the 14th time this season. The Tiger senior also grabbed six rebounds and snagged two steals, both team highs.
- Junior guard Jordan Roundtree (St. Louis, Mo.) chipped in seven points, her sixth game of seven or more points since being inserted into the starting lineup on Dec. 17 against Texas State.
- Redshirt senior guard Lauren Aldridge (Marshfield, Mo.) scored six points and connected on two three-pointers in the game.
NOTES
- Cunningham continued her hot stretch of scoring over the last two months, as she is averaging 17.2 points per game over her last 13 contests with nine games of 17 or more points.
- Mizzou connected on seven threes in the game, the 15th time this season the Tigers have made at least seven treys. Cunningham led the way with three three-pointers, while Aldridge drained two.
- Mizzou forced Kentucky to commit 13 turnovers in the game, the 16th time in 21 games this season Mizzou has forced its opponent to make 10 or more turnovers.

Mizzou returns home to Mizzou Arena for its next contest as the Tigers host Auburn on Sunday, Jan. 27. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network +. The matchup will serve as Mizzou's We Back Pat game in memory of legendary Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt.
