No. 17/19 @MizzouSwimDive Closes Dual Slate Against Two In-State Opponents

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 17/19 Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams close out the dual portion of their schedules with meets against two in-state opponents this weekend. First, the Tigers travel to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury on Friday, Jan. 18, with diving slated for 2 p.m. and swimming schedule to start at 4 p.m. Mizzou then returns home to host Missouri State on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Noon at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. Before the meet, the Tigers will honor the senior class for their contributions to the program. Admission to Saturday's meet is free.

TEAM RANKINGS

The Tigers enter this weekend meet ranked 17th (men) and 19th (women) in the latest CSCAA / TYR Top 25 poll.

LAST TIME OUT

The Tigers fell to the No. 8/6 Louisville Cardinals Thursday afternoon at the Mizzou Aquatic Center on Jan. 10. On the women's side, the Tigers suffered a 163-137 loss, while the Missouri men fell 178-122. A total of seven Tigers won individual events against the Cardinals. 

Senior Annie Ochitwa (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Tigers with two individual event wins on Thursday. Ochitwa earned top honors in the 100 free with a time of 49.74, and added a win in the 100 fly after touching in 53.97.

In the diving well, senior Kyle Goodwin (Aurora, Colo.) and freshmen Ike Khamis (Richmond, Ind.) and Sarah Rousseau (Melbourne, Fla.) all picked up victories. Khamis won the men's platform with 363.68 points, a total that moved him up to fifth-place all-time on Mizzou's all-time list. Goodwin won men's 3-meter with 353.18 points, thanks to a 71.4 on his final dive, and Rousseau claimed first-place honors in the women's 1-meter competition with a six-round total of 279.3.

Also winners on the day were senior Kylie Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.), junior Nick Alexander (St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore Sarah Thompson(Collierville, Tenn.). Dahlgren won the women's 200 IM with a time of 2:02.93, Alexander swam a 1:45.10 in the men's 200 back for top honors, and Thompson claimed first in the women's 50 free in 22.77.

KHAMIS NAMED SEC MEN'S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Freshman diver Ike Khamis (Richmond, Ind.) was named the Southeastern Conference Men's Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. In a dual against Louisville last week, Khamis won his first career event title as he earned top honors on platform. The freshman recorded a career-high six-round score of 363.68 points, a total that also moved him up to fifth in Mizzou's all-time record book.

Khamis owns season-best scores of 310.95 on 1-meter, 354.80 on 3-meter and now 363.68 on platform in his freshman season. He also finished fourth on platform at the prestigious Georgia Diving Invitational the first week of January.

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS

A total of 19 Tigers are ranked in the top 25 nationally in their respective events, including five who are among the top 10. Junior Haley Hynes leads the way as she is ranked third nationally in the women's 100 back.
