It was another cool morning for Mizzou Football practice as the team took part in the sixth practice of fall camp Thursday morning on the Kadlec Practice Fields. While the actual temperature is not quite as hot as Coach Barry Odom would prefer for preseason practice, things are heating up on the field as it was the second day in full pads.
After one of the best practices of camp Wednesday, Coach Odom faced the challenge of getting his team to bring that energy not only today, but throughout the rest of training camp. He echoed those sentiments when he met with reporters following practice.
"Going through one practice - maybe the best one you've had - to coming out and having to respond and do it again, that's one of the fun parts of coaching," Odom said following practice. "Getting guys in a position to do it every single day. The discipline and habits of doing absolutely everything everyday - that's what's going to make us our best."
With camp's first scrimmage looming Saturday morning, position battles are heating up and guys are making plays all over the field. Thursday's practice ended with 11-on-11 on the goal line. QB Kelly Bryant found WR Jalen Knox on a beautiful out pattern to close one of the sessions with the No. 1 offense triumphing, but the No. 1 defense also turned in a stop later in the drill thanks to the play of senior LB Cale Garrett. The battles between the 2s and 3s was spirited as well.
Mizzou will practice again Friday before scrimmaging Saturday morning for the first time during camp.
