Tiger Style’s Daniel Lewis is the MAC Wrestler of the Week

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling RS senior Daniel Lewis is the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, announced Thursday (Jan. 3) by the MAC office. Lewis was a perfect 4-0 during a dominant weekend for fifth-ranked Mizzou Wrestling that saw the team go 4-0 at the South Beach Duals, including wins over three top-25 teams. Lewis defeated a pair of ranked wrestlers on the weekend as he improved to 15-1 during his senior year.

Lewis was a perfect 4-0 during a dominant weekend for fifth-ranked Mizzou Wrestling that saw the team go 4-0 at the South Beach Duals, including wins over three top-25 teams. Lewis defeated a pair of ranked wrestlers on the weekend as he improved to 15-1 during his senior year.

Lewis began his weekend with a dominant technical fall over Kent State's Dylan Barreiro, 18-2, in a 44-0 shutout win over MAC rival Kent State to open the South Beach duals. He then defeated the nation's sixth-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds in Jordan Kutler of Lehigh. Lewis earned an 8-1 win in that bout to complete a perfect first day.

On day two, Lewis pinned Purdue's Tanner Webster in just 0:53 and then downed 14th-ranked Brandon Womack of Cornell to complete the perfect weekend.

Mizzou Wrestling is off this weekend and returns to action on Jan. 11 as it heads to Athens, Ohio, for a dual with the University of Ohio.
