Tigers bring in talented mix of true freshmen and transfers
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball's incoming 2018 recruiting class was placed among the top 35 in the nation, according to Baseball America's ranking release this week.
Head Coach Steve Bieser and assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Lance Rhodes accumulated an impressive mix of true freshmen and transfers heading into the 2019 campaign. Overall, the upcoming Tiger roster will feature nine true freshmen and seven junior college transfers.
"We're very excited about the talent this group brings to Columbia, Missouri," Bieser said. "We have a nice combination of youth and experience in this year's class that compliments the returners we have very well. Coach Rhodes has done an outstanding job as well, as the efforts of the entire staff are evident to get this class on campus."
Mizzou continues to build momentum in the competitive Southeastern Conference, as it has tallied 70 wins in Coach Bieser's opening two seasons at the helm. It marked the winningest two-year stretch for the Tigers since the 2008-09 campaigns.
A season ago, Mizzou produced 14 wins over RPI top 50 programs, ranking seventh most in the country. In SEC play, the Tigers have recorded 26 victories the past two years, marking the teams' best two-year stretch since joining their new conference in 2012.
