Tigers fall victim to sixth inning attack by the Bulldogs yet again
ATHENS, Ga. – Mizzou Softball (21-21, 4-11 SEC) competed to the end for the third-straight day Sunday at Jack Turner Stadium, but No. 5 Georgia ultimately claimed a 7-2 victory and clinched the series victory over the visiting Tigers.
With the score tied at two apiece in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bulldogs' bats came alive with five runs on five hits to put the game out of reach. Both Friday's series opener and today's series finale saw the Tigers with the lead or the game tied before the host team delivered a crooked number on the scoreboard to clinch the win.

Hear From Coach Fogue
On Sunday's series finale…
"Today was frustrating, as we competed almost all game yet again against a great opponent in Georgia. Offensively, we had numerous chances to build a multi-run lead but couldn't come up with the big hit. You have to capitalize on those scoring opportunities against talented teams like the Bulldogs. Our pitchers battled hard all day, but looked a little tired towards the end of their respective outings. I'm still pleased with our effort this weekend, as we played a top 5 team really well each time out."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Nash's RBI infield single in the second inning marked her 13th run driven in this year, establishing a new single-season career-high. She surpassed her previous mark of 12 RBI during her 2016 freshman campaign.
- The Tigers were active on the basepaths from the get-go Sunday, finishing with five total stolen bases. The five team stolen bases marked the most by Mizzou this season, surpassing the previous best of four swipes established twice earlier this year.
- Rylee Pierce led the way individually with two stolen bases, resetting her personal single-game career-high.
- Kessinger's single in the fifth inning secured her 10th multi-hit game this season. She concluded her weekend series against the Bulldogs with back to back multi-hit efforts.
- Brooke Wilmes rocked her ninth double of the year in the fourth inning, tying fellow Tiger Callie Martin for the team lead.
- Danielle Baumgartner concluded her series in the circle with back to back scoreless appearances in relief. She continues to be effective in SEC play this season, accumulating a 1.00 ERA over 7.0 IP.
- The Tiger offense came to play this weekend against one of the SEC and nation's top pitching staffs, as they collectively produced a .322 average (28-for-87) with 13 runs scored, six doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI and 10-for-10 in stolen bases.
- Wilmes (.625), Nash (.571) and Pierce (.545) all enjoyed fantastic individual three-game stretches at the plate.
