Tigers’ pitching staff has tallied four consecutive shutouts overall
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball (28-24) concluded its non-conference schedule in style this week, posting four-straight shutout victories over its opposition. Following two shutouts Wednesday at Western Illinois, the Tiger pitching staff repeated their impressive performance with two additional goose eggs Saturday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Mizzou produced a fantastic all-around effort in game one versus the Golden Lions with a 10-0 run-rule win in six innings. In game two, the Tiger bats repeatedly hit into bad luck but the team escaped with a 2-0 triumph.

On Saturday's pair of wins inside Mizzou Softball Stadium…
"Our pitching staff simply had a great stretch this week. We saw a lot of people contribute and that's what you want to see with the season reaching its final stretch. Today, I was pleased with our offense as we hit the ball hard throughout both contests. The stats might have not suggested that in game two, but we were making consistent hard contact and hit into some tough luck. Our focus now turns to our SEC series finale next weekend at home against a really good Florida team."
#MIZ Takeaways

#MIZ Takeaways
- The Tigers are in midst of four-straight shutout victories, marking the first time the program has accomplished that feat since 2012. In that season, Mizzou tallied an incredible nine consecutive shutouts over one stretch.
- Dating back to the conclusion of Mizzou's series finale at No. 12 South Carolina (April 22), the team's pitching staff has tossed 29-straight scoreless innings.
- In game one, 10 different Tigers recorded a hit, led by multi-hit efforts from Decker, Burnside and Cayla Kessinger. Decker stole the show with her walk-off three-run home run in the sixth inning, securing her third multi-hit and second multi-RBI game this season.
- Romaine's pair of RBI in game one marked her team-leading ninth multi-RBI contest this year. In game two, Edwards posted a pair of RBI herself, moving into second place on the team with eight multi-RBI matchups.
- Amanda Sanchez is in midst of a seven-game hitting streak, only one game shy of matching her 2018 season-high.
- Over the Tigers' four non-conference games this week (April 23-29), Kessinger hit a blistering .700 (7-for-10) with four runs scored, two doubles, one home run and four RBI.
- Burnside also enjoyed a nice four-game stretch, hitting .455 (5-for-11) with one run scored, one home run and two RBI.
- Collectively, the Tiger pitching staff was simply remarkable over the teams' past four games. In 27.0 innings pitched, Norman, Rice, Baumgartner and Nalani Scates limited the opposition to zero runs and 12 hits (.130 batting average against).
