Hear From Coach Fogue
On the Tigers' late struggles Friday…
"We all felt tonight was pretty frustrating, because it felt like we were in control virtually all game. I was pleased with our hitters early on as they had aggressive at bats and consistently made hard contact. If it wasn't for a great defensive play in the fourth inning, we're suddenly looking at a 4-1 lead at least. You have to give credit to South Carolina on making some nice defensive plays and then coming up with those big home runs in the fifth. Despite losing tonight, we're still confident heading into tomorrow afternoon's game."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Romaine tallied her eighth multi-hit game of the season. She now has 20 multi-hit efforts over her three-year career at Mizzou.
- Edward's two-run single in the second inning marked her fifth and sixth RBI in her past five games played. Burnside's sacrifice fly in the top half of the third was her second-straight game with an RBI.
- Friday was a rare game this year where Mizzou surrendered a late advantage. The Tigers entered tonight with a phenomenal 19-1 record when leading after four innings. Following South Carolina's comeback in the fifth inning, it secured only Mizzou's second loss this year after possessing a lead through four innings of play.
- Additionally, it marked only the Tigers' fourth loss this year after they initially scored first in the game. Mizzou now sits at 17-4 overall this season when reaching the scoreboard first.
