
Andy Humes Named @MizzouAthletics Executive Associate Athletics Director for Compliance & Administration

Veteran Compliance Administrator Joins Tiger Family From San Diego State University
COLUMBIA, MO. – The University of Missouri Department of Athletics has selected Andy Humes to serve as the department's Executive Associate Athletics Director for Compliance & Administration, Director of Athletics Jim Sterk announced today.
Humes joins the Mizzou staff from San Diego State University, where he has served as the Aztecs' Associate Athletics Director of Compliance since March 2015.
At Mizzou, Humes will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to ensure that the department is complaint with NCAA, Southeastern Conference, institutional and federal rules and regulations. He will also have oversight of the Mizzou Athletics dining hall and Tennis Complex, in addition to serving as the sport program administrator for the women's tennis program.
During his tenure at San Diego State, Humes directed the day-to-day activities of the department's six-person compliance office, and served as the sport supervisor for the women's soccer and softball programs.
Prior to moving to the West Coast, Humes spent seven years at his alma mater, Indiana University, serving one year (2008-09) as Compliance Coordinator before being promoted into the Director of Compliance role, where he served for six years before taking the top compliance job at San Diego State. While at Indiana, Humes also served as an adjunct professor of graduate level courses in NCAA compliance and legal issues within the sports industry. In addition, he taught business law classes at a local community college.
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Indiana in 2002, Humes completed his Juris Doctor at the University, graduating cum laude in 2005. He then spent three years as an associate in business litigation for Ice Miller, LLP, in Indianapolis, then returned to his hometown of Bloomington, Indiana, to begin his intercollegiate athletics career in compliance with the Hoosiers.
An active member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), Humes currently serves on the organization's Convention Committee.
Humes, who will begin his new position in mid-April, is replacing 36-year Mizzou employee Mary Ann Austin, who is retiring from the University at the end of April.
