On today's doubleheader…
"Anytime you lose you will learn things about your team. We figured out things we need to work on to get better today. We also confirmed that this team is resilient. They don't throw in the towel and will play hard until the end of each game. We're shifting our focus on tomorrow's game and hope to build on what we learned today."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Kessinger extended her hitting streak dating back to last season to 14 games with a pair of multi-hit efforts today. Her impressive streak now ranks T-7th longest in program history.
- Edwards extended her current hitting streak and RBI streak to three consecutive games. Her two-run home run against Oregon marked her second blast in many days.
- Kessinger has hit safely in all four games played thus far, while Pierce, Martin and Edwards will each enter Sunday riding a three-game hitting streak.
- Kessinger, Pierce and Hatti Moore have each reached base safely in all four games played this weekend.
- Down 6-0 in the seventh inning, Mizzou's offense finally broke through against Oklahoma State. After an RBI single from Edwards, Decker's first career hit and RBI as a Tiger and an RBI walk from Sanchez, Mizzou suddenly brought the go-ahead run to the plate. A lineout by Burnside to second base unfortunately ended the Tigers' late comeback attempt.
- Mizzou's offense collectively has produced impressive numbers early on. Through four games played, the Tigers boast a team .339 average with 27 runs scored, six doubles, four home runs and 22 RBI.
