VALENTINE, Neb. - Mizzou Men's Golf finished the second round of The Jackrabbit in fourth place. Following an even par (288) opening round on Sunday, Mizzou sits in fourth after shooting a 9-over par (297) second round on Monday. With two rounds complete, the Tigers trail UCF, Kansas and Idaho. Mizzou has a tournament-best 37 birdies through 36 holes of action.
Sophomore Jamie Stewart (Renfrewshire, Scotland) and junior Ricky Sanders (The Hauge, Netherlands) each shot even par in the second round and lead the Tigers at 1-under par. They are both tied for eighth place on the player leaderboard.
Stewart has recorded 11 birdies through both rounds, which leads the Tigers and is ranked second among competitors through 36 holes. Stewart is looking to pick up his third consecutive Top-20 finish to open the 2018-19 campaign.
Sanders shot par on 12 holes and recorded three birdies and bogeys each, which leveled his score on Monday. Sanders is looking for his second Top-10 finish this season.
After a strong opening round, junior Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland) is tied for 12th place. Franssen struggled early on Monday, but battled back to shoot 3-under on the back nine and wrap up his day at 1-over for the tournament.
Freshman Tommy Boone finished the second round tied for 50th and shot 6-over par. Senior Matt Echelmeier finished tied for 64th and shot 7-over par.
The Jackrabbit continues on Tuesday as the Tigers look to extend their Top-5 finish streak.
