Wielinski Tabbed CollegeSwimming.com's SEC Male Swimmer of the Week

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior Jacob Wielinski of the Mizzou men's swimming team was named CollegeSwimming.com's Southeastern Conference Male Swimmer of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday (Jan. 30). Wielinski won the 1000 free in Missouri's final dual meet of the season and notched the week's fourth-fastest 1650 free time.
The junior swam the week's fourth-fastest 1650 free time in the nation against Drury on Jan. 25, with a 15:13.40 against the Panthers. He clocked a 9:15.20 in the first 1000 of the 1650 to officially win the 1000 free event title against Drury, at his fourth overall win of the season and his third in the 1000 free. He also posted times of 4:28.62 in the 500 free and a 3:59.34 in the 400 IM. Wielinski is Missouri's all-time record holder in both the 1000 free (9:03.43) and 1650 free (14:59.10), as well as ranking fourth in the 500 free (4:22.58), all marks set at November's Mizzou Invite. His 1650 free time of 14:59.10 currently ranks 24th nationally.
Wielinski is in his first season in Black and Gold after transferring from North Dakota following the 2016-17 season. He claimed the 2017 Western Athletic Conference 1650 free title with the Fighting Hawks, while also placing second in the 500 free at the conference meet. He accumulated 32 event titles in his two years at North Dakota, with 16 apiece as both a freshman and sophomore.
The Tigers return to action at the 2018 SEC Championships, held Feb. 14-18 in College Station, Texas.
