@MizzouTennis Claims Doubles Point, Drops Match 4-1 at No. 11 Auburn

Bea Machado Santos and Amina Ismail toppled the 16th-ranked pairing in the nation
AUBURN, ALA. – Mizzou (10-13) fell on the road to No. 11 Auburn (21-8), 4-1, Friday afternoon. Mizzou claimed the doubles point, but Auburn rattled off four consecutive singles wins to claim the match.
The Tigers dominated the doubles matches, winning on both courts one and two, 6-1. Junior Amina Ismail (Maineville, Ohio) and senior Bea Machado Santos (Lisbon, Portugal) defeated the No. 16 pairing in the nation, 6-1. Ismail and Santos, the 17-ranked pairing, secured its sixth consecutive win, five of which have been against ranked opponents. Ismail and Santos' victory improved their record to a team-best 12-5 on the season as a doubles duo.
On court two, freshman Mackenzy Middlebrooks and senior Cassidy Spearman were paired together for the first time in dual play and secured a dominant win over Auburn's No. 2 duo, by a score of 6-1. The win secured the doubles point for Mizzou and gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead overall. Although unfinished, freshman Tate Schroeder and junior Clare Raley put together a solid debut as a pairing as they led 5-3 at the No. 3 spot before the match was abandoned.
Auburn seized back momentum and claimed the match with wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6.
Santos narrowly secured a win at the No. 1 spot. She won the first set against No. 39 Andie Dikosavljevic of Auburn. After dropping the second set, the pair headed to a decisive third set. The third set was eventually abandoned, but Santos led 5-2, one game shy of a top-40 victory.
Schroeder faced off against No. 26 Alizee Michaud on court two in just her third match at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Schroeder won 12 total games, but fell in a 6-7, 6-7 heartbreaker.
Mizzou wraps up the regular season with a trip to No. 33 Alabama on Sunday. First serve is set for 3 p.m. CT.
