COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball (22-11) continues its 2017 postseason run this weekend at the NCAA University Park Regional. The Tigers will meet No. 1 Penn State Friday (Dec. 8) afternoon inside Rec Hall for a Sweet 16 matchup.
First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and the match will broadcast live on ESPNU. Sam Gore and Dain Blanton will be on the call. With a win over the Nittany Lions, the Tigers would face the victor between Michigan State and Illinois. The University Park Regional Final (Elite Eight) is slated for 7 p.m. CT Saturday (Dec. 9) evening on ESPNU.

Series Snapshot vs. Penn State
- Mizzou trails in the all-time series against Penn State, 5-0.
- The two programs last met on Sept. 7, 2006, in Austin, Texas, for the Time Warner Cable Texas Invite. Mizzou fell to the Nittany Lions in straight sets.
- Mizzou is seeking its first all-time set victory over Penn State, as the Nittany Lions have claimed wins in all 15 sets throughout the all-time series.
Series Snapshot vs. Michigan State
- A potential Elite Eight matchup Saturday night would mark Mizzou and Michigan State's first-ever meeting.
Series Snapshot vs. Illinois
- Mizzou trails in the all-time series against Illinois, 6-1-1.
- The two programs last met on Nov. 29, 2001, in Champaign, Ill., in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers fell 3-1 to the Fighting Illini.
- Mizzou's only victory over Illinois occurred on Sept. 8, 1984, in Champaign with a 3-0 straight-set triumph.
Mizzou NCAA Regional History
- This weekend in University Park, Pa., will mark Mizzou's fourth all-time appearance in the Sweet 16.
- The 2017 Tigers etched their name into the program record book alongside the 2005, 2010 and 2016 Tigers.
- A win Friday afternoon over Penn State would mark Mizzou's second all-time trip to the Elite Eight, alongside the 2005 Tigers, who earned the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Regional Final after defeating Hawaii (also occurring in the hometown of the Nittany Lions).
Munlyn & Larson Earn All-Region Honors
- Tuesday (Dec. 5) morning, Alyssa Munlyn and Kira Larson were named to the 2017 AVCA Southeast All-Region Teams. Munlyn garnered First Team honors, while Larson was named Honorable Mention.
- Munlyn and Larson have both received AVCA All-Region accolades in all three years at Mizzou (2015-17). The duo joins former Tigers Carly Kan, Lindsey Hunter, Lisa Henning and Jessica Vander Kooi as individuals to claim three-plus All-Region honors.
