COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Golf head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer announced the signing of Natasha Slater on Thursday. Slater, a native of Ulverston, England, boasts an average round score of 75.58 in her career so far.
"I chose Mizzou because of the great team spirit I felt while visiting, along with the supportive coaching staff," Slater said. "Getting to compete in the Southeastern Conference is exciting and Mizzou provides amazing academic opportunities with excellent support for athletes."
Slater will be joining the Tigers after participating in numerous competitive events all around Europe. This year she was named English Women's County Champion of Champions after shooting 2-under par to win by three strokes. She was also recognized as the Cumbria Ladies County Champion.
"We love Natasha's fundamentals and the potential that she exhibits with her golf game," Priesmeyer said. "She has a quiet confidence and wonderful disposition. Natasha no doubt will take full advantage of this opportunity and grow with our program. She is a very strong student and has made a great connection with the team."
Slater qualified in the 19th position for the 2017 British Girls Championship and competed in the English Women's Amateur Championship, tying for 26th overall at the event.
In 2016, Slater finished as the runner-up at the Scottish U16 national tournament. She also represented England's U18 national team at the Fairhaven Trophies in the Nation's Cup.
In 2015, Slater set two course records in Northern Girls, posting an 8-under par at the Headingley Golf Club and a 5-under par at the Alwoodley Golf Club. She was also named the 2015 Northern Girls Champion.
Slater represented the U16 England national squad in matchups against Switzerland and Spain in 2014 and claimed the 2014 Scottish U14 Championship.
Slater attended Ulverston Victoria High School and plans on studying Biological Engineering at Mizzou. She will join the Tigers next fall for the 2018-2019 campaign as a freshman.
