COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball competed in its final two Fall Ball games this past Saturday (Oct. 28), wrapping up a perfect 8-0 record over the month of October. The Tigers performed well all-around yet again in victories over North Central Community College and Evangel.
Notables
- The Tigers pitching staff delivered a pair of shutouts in the circle, while the offense supplied an incredible 39 total runs in their two wins.
- Mizzou produced 28 runs in game one vs. North Central, starting off the day's doubleheader on a high note.
- Callie Martin and Rylee Pierce opened the Tigers' first at bat with a pair of hits, followed by a run-producing knock from Trenity Edwards.
- Mizzou added four runs in the second frame, keyed by RBIs from Pierce, Edwards and Amanda Sanchez.
- After an RBI by Kendyll Bailey in the third inning, the Tigers added over 20 runs over their final innings of play.
- Pierce, Edwards and Delaney McDannold all produced multi-hit efforts for Mizzou over its convincing victory.
- In the circle, newcomers Nalani Scates and Lauren Rice combined for a shutout with five total strikeouts. Scates came out firing in the first inning, producing two consecutive strikeouts to close out the frame.
- After plunking the first batter she faced in the fourth inning, Rice rebounded in a big way by retiring the final nine batters of the game.
- In game two against Evangel, the Tigers' offense didn't waste much time again, as they recorded six runs in the second inning. Kolby Romaine, Brooke Wilmes, Pierce and Sanchez delivered the key RBI hits.
- In the fourth inning, Mizzou strung together a two-out rally behind a run-producing hit from Edwards.
- In the circle, Eli Daniel and Madi Norman closed out a spotless day for Tigers pitching. Daniel had her full arsenal working over three innings of work, highlighted by six strikeouts. Norman closed the evening with four innings, limiting Evangel to zero hits and only one total baserunner.
