Mizzou is in sixth place through 36 holes
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf sits tied for sixth place overall through 36 holes of action at the Trinity Forest Invitational. The tournament, hosted by SMU, is being played at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas, on Monday and Tuesday.
Following an opening round 309 as a team, Mizzou battled a difficult course and bounced back in round two, carding a 4-over par 292.
"This afternoon we settled in, made more putts and put oursevles in a much better postion on our approach shots," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "I'm very proud of our effort this afternoon."
Sophomore Jessica Yuen and senior Clara Young paced the Tigers in the opening two rounds as both are currently in the Top 10 individually. Yuen is tied for second through 36 holes, sitting at 1-under par. After carding an opening-round 75, she shot up 12 spots on the leaderboard in round two behind a 4-under par 68. Yuen has now recorded four sub-70 rounds during the 2017 fall campaign.
Young got off to a hot start with a strong 2-under par in the opening round. That matched her lowest 18-hole score of the 2017 season and marked her best round since Sept. 12 at the Jim West Challenge. Young shot a 75 in round two on Monday and is currently 1-over for the tournament in sixth place individually.
Junior Marit Harryvan also put together a strong second round, finishing 1-over. She is 12-over for the tournament and tied for 47th overall.
Mizzou wraps up the Trinity Forest Invitational on Tuesday with the third round beginning via shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
