Mizzou Softball (20-14, 3-5 SEC) continues its season-high 10-game homestand on Wednesday (April 5) with a doubleheader against Southeast Missouri State. Game one between the Tigers and Redhawks inside Mizzou Stadium is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CT).

MIZZOU GAME NOTES

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 24 Mizzou Softball (20-14, 3-5 SEC) continues its season-high 10-game homestand on Wednesday (April 5) with a doubleheader against Southeast Missouri State. Game one between the Tigers and Redhawks inside Mizzou Stadium is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CT).

Both games of Wednesday's double dip will broadcast live on SEC Network + via WatchESPN. Ben Arnet and former Mizzou Softball first basemen Kelsea Roth will be on the call. Mizzou and SEMO's matchups will mark another "Winning Wednesday" at the ballpark, as all tickets are available for only $3 each.

  • Mizzou leads the all-time series over SEMO, 25-3.
  • In the teams' last meeting, the Tigers claimed a 10-1 victory on March 11, 2015, in Columbia, Mo.
     

Baxter Dominates #9 Alabama, Earns SEC & National Pitching Awards

  • Senior RHP Cheyenne Baxter continued her dominance in SEC play this past weekend (March 31 - April 2) against No. 9 Alabama, shutting down the Crimson Tide over two starts.
  • Baxter limited Alabama to only one run over 13.1 IP, while its batters only managed a .191 average against her.
  • Baxter was recognized across the country for her outstanding work in the circle, as she garnered Week Eight SEC Pitcher of the Week and Week Eight NFCA National Pitcher of the Week accolades on Tuesday (April 4).
  • She opened the weekend with a CG victory on Friday (March 31), marking her fourth CG win this season.
  • Baxter came back two days later and started Sunday's series finale rubber match. She pitched 3.1 quality innings before being pulled. Baxter re-entered the game in the seventh inning after Mizzou tied the game at three apiece. She shut down Alabama for the final three innings of the game, setting up the Tigers' ultimate walk-off series-clinching win in the ninth inning.
  • In SEC only play this year (5 starts, 3 CG, 1 shutout), Baxter has accumulated a 3-1 record with a 1.18 ERA, 24 Ks over 29.2 IP and limiting batters to a .209 average.
  • Those five starts in SEC play have all come against top 10 ranked opponents (at #1 Florida - March 12 // at #7 Texas A&M - March 25-26 // vs. #9 Alabama - March 31, April 2).

Tigers Climb Back Into National Polls, NCAA RPI

  • After a three week hiatus, the Tigers returned to the nation's top 25 polls on Tuesday, behind their series victory over the Crimson Tide.
  • Mizzou checked in at No. 24 in the Week Eight USA Today / NFCA Division I Coaches Poll, while earning the No. 25 spot in the latest ESPN.com / USA Softball poll.
  • Additionally, the Tigers jumped 11 spots in the latest NCAA RPI rankings, claiming the No. 25 slot in the latest edition.
  • Overall this season, Mizzou has tallied five top 25 nationally ranked wins, including an impressive four victories over top 10 foes.
  • Inside the latest NCAA RPI, the Tigers have six victories over top 25 opponents and seven wins over current top 30 RPI ball clubs.
