@MizzouSoccer Beats San Francisco, 4-1, for Third-Straight Win

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou soccer team used goals from four different players to notch a decisive 4-1 victory over visiting San Francisco Friday night at Walton Stadium. Senior Rachel Hignett (Llandough, Wales), juniors Allie Hess (Kearney, Mo.) and Savannah Trujillo (Kansas City, Mo.) and freshman Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) all found the back of the net as the Tigers won their third-straight match to improve to 4-1-0 on the season.

San Francisco fell to 2-3-0.

Luebbert, the reigning Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, notched her fourth goal in five career games and added an assist against the Dons. She leads the Tigers with nine points on the season.

Missouri dominated throughout the match, owning an 18-9 edge in total shots and an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.

The Tigers took the early lead on a goal from Hess in the 14th minute. The junior ran onto a pass from Luebbert and one-timed a low shot into the lower right netting on an assist from Luebbert for a 1-0 Missouri advantage.

Trujillo tacked on Mizzou's second goal of the game, the eventual game-winner, when junior Kaitlyn Clark (Liberty, Mo.) found an open Trujillo, who tapped the ball over the goal line.

After San Francisco pulled within one with a goal in the 47th minute, Mizzou responded only four minutes later as Luebbert tallied the team's third goal of the match.

Sophomore Bethany Coons (Union, Mo.) made a run down the right side to the corner of the box and passed up to junior Jessica Johnson (Los Angeles, Calif.). Johnson then found an open Luebbert, stationed in the center of the box, who promptly beat the Don keeper for a 3-1 Tiger advantage. The goal was Luebbert's team-leading fourth on the young season.

In the 78th minute, Luebbert was brought down on the right side of the box, earning the Tigers a penalty kick. Hignett stepped to the spot and hit her shot into the upper netting as the Don goalkeeper guessed wrong. The tally marked Hignett's first career goal.

Sophomore keeper Kelsey Dossey (Plainfield, Ind.) made two saves in net for Missouri.

The Tigers travel to South Bend, Ind., on Sunday, Sept. 4 to face No. 23 Notre Dame at 4 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra, which is available to WatchESPN subscribers.
