Freshman Amanda Kim ties for ninth individually at 2-over par
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mizzou Women's Golf finished ninth at the SEC Championship with a final round 302 (+14) on Sunday at the Legacy Course at the Greystone Golf & Country Club. Freshman Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) tied for ninth individually at 2-under par after shooting a final round 73 (+1). She recorded 12 birdies throughout the tournament, which tied for third-most in the field.
"Despite our finish today, we feel so motivated that our season is far from over," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We did not have our A game the last two days but there were definitely some highlights with our entire team. We played our way into a second round pairing with Alabama, the No. 1 team in the country and eventual SEC champs.
"With strong leadership from our upperclassmen and great poise from our freshmen class, we know we can compete with any team in the country. Amanda Kim was extremely solid for us this weekend. We learned a lot and our players know they left some shots out there over the last two days, but we are ready to prepare for the postseason."
Freshman Marit Harryvan (Winschoten, Netherlands) tied for 31st individually at 10-over after carding a final round 78 (+6). Senior Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Fla.) tied for 40th at 13-over after shooting a 78 (+6) on Sunday. Freshman Emma Allen (Southampton, England) tied for 46th, closing with a third round 75 (+3). Junior Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland) birdied two of her last four holes to close with a 76 (+4).
Alabama won the title by finishing at 5-under par. Florida placed second at even par with Maria Torres from the Gators claiming the individual championship at 9-under.
NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 5-7.
