Tigers shoot 294 (+6) in final round; Emma Allen cards 70 (-2)
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 23 Mizzou Women's Golf shot a 294 (+6) on Sunday in the final round of the Seminole Match Up at the Don Veller Golf Course to finish seventh. Freshman Emma Allen (Southampton, England) carded a third round 70 (-2), which included four birdies. Allen finished tied for 16th individually at 6-over par for the tournament.
"We got off to a great start this morning and moved up the leaderboard but could not finish it off on the final few holes," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "I'm proud of how we competed, and it was great for us to play in these two tournaments back-to-back in Florida. It was good to see our team improve each round."
Allen birdied two of her first three holes and sank two more birdie putts on her back nine.
"Emma had a really nice event at FSU," Priesmeyer said. "She moved up 19 spots today and really started getting in a groove yesterday after her first nine holes."
The Tigers opened the round strong with six birdies and an eagle through the first nine holes, moving all the way up to fifth place at one point.
Sophomore Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) continued her consistent play on Sunday. She began her round with an eagle and added two birdies later in the round to shoot a 74 (+2). Young tied for 15th individually.
Senior Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Fla.) closed the tournament with a 75 (+3) to tie for 21st individually. Freshman Marit Harryvan (Winschoten, Netherlands) shot a season-low 75 (+3) in her third career round to close out the scoring.
Mizzou will have a month off before hosting the MountainView Collegiate Invitational on March 18-19 in Tucson, Arizona.
