
@MizzouSwimDive Sets Four School Records During Day One at Mizzou Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined to win 11 events during day one action at the Mizzou Invite Thursday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. During day one competition, the Tigers set four school records and recorded three NCAA 'A' qualifying times.
Both men's and women's programs sit in first-place after one day of competition. The men have 518 points to lead Drury (221), Wyoming (208.5) and UNLV (145.5), while the women notched 491 points on Thursday to lead Illinois (225), Wyoming (206), Drury (169) and UNLV (96).
Senior Andrew Sansoucie (Wentzville, Missouri) notched Mizzou's only individual NCAA 'A' cut of the day as he nabbed the win in the 100 fly. Sansoucie broke his own school record in the event with a 44.86 in finals to post the fastest time in the nation this season. Freshman Micah Slaton (Austin, Texas) took second in 47.41 and freshman Daniel Hein (Sycamore, Illinois) touched third in 47.52. Earlier in the day, Hein went 46.82 in prelims to move him into second-place all-time at Mizzou in the 100 fly.
Both the men's and women's 500 free school marks went down on Thursday. Junior Kira Zubar (Chaska, Minnesota) twice broke her own school mark during day one competition. She dropped a 4:40.40 in finals to knock two seconds off her prelims swim and earn the win. Sophomore Courtney Evensen (Golden Valley, Minnesota) and freshman Azra Avdic (Skokie, Illinois) placed second and third, respectively, in 4:47.22 and 4:48.92.
Senior Nick Davis (Chesterfield, Missouri) became the new men's 500 free Mizzou record holder with a finals swim of 4:17.19 to best the old school mark from 2013. He finished second overall in the event.
The fourth school record of the day came in the men's 200 IM, where senior Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, North Carolina) touched in 1:43.01 to break the mark by over a second and a half. The senior took first in finals and was followed by freshman Nick Alexander (Crestwood, Missouri) in second in 1:45.33 and sophomore Alex Walton (Wilton, Iowa) in third in 1:47.10.
Junior Sharli Brady (Burlington, Kentucky) took top honors in the women's 200 IM after a finals swim of 1:57.39, barely off her prelims time of 1:56.69. Sophomore Kylie Dahlgren (Victoria, Minnesota) took third in 1:58.08 and senior Katharine Ross (Des Moines, Iowa) third in 1:58.77.
In the diving well, redshirt senior Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Michigan) took the win with a finals score of 352.20, while junior Kendra Kieser (Plano, Texas) placed fifth in 299.25.
In the women's 100 fly, junior Erin Metzger-Seymour (Westminster, Colorado) placed first in 53.81. Earlier in the day, she notched a personal best 52.76 in prelims to move her into fourth-place all-time at Mizzou. Sophomore Maddie Gehrke (Clive, Iowa) was third in 54.14.
Gehrke then outtouched the field in the women's 50 free after a finals swim of 22.45. On the men's side, Sansoucie placed second in 19.93 but raced to a big personal best time of 19.78 in morning preliminaries.
Mizzou was victorious in all four relays on the day, with sweeps of the 200 free and 400 medley relays. Both men's and women's 400 medley relay recorded automatic NCAA qualifying times Thursday night. The women's squad of freshman Haley Hynes (Lee's Summit, Missouri), Ross, Metzger-Seymour and junior Rachel Hayden (Indianapolis, Indiana) swam of 3:32.94 and the men's quartet of Hein, senior Fabian Schwingenschlogl (Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany), Sansoucie and Chadwick touched in 3:05.67.
The teams opened finals with wins in the 200 free relays, where the men's team of Chadwick, Sansoucie, sophomore Luke Mankus (Keller, Texas) and senior Mitchell Forde (Louisville, Kentucky) won in 1:17.33 and the women's A relay of Hayden, Gehrke, Hynes and senior Victoria Trost (Johnston, Iowa) took the win in 1:29.75.
The Mizzou Invite continues with day two action on Friday, Nov. 18, with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
