COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball (18-4, 9-1 SEC) closes out the month of October on Sunday with Mississippi State visiting Mid-Missouri. First serve inside the Hearnes Center is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CT).
Sunday afternoon's SEC matchup will broadcast live on SEC Network + via WatchESPN. The Tigers possess a strong 6-1 record this month, aiding their push to the top of the SEC standings.
Series Snapshot vs. Mississippi State
- Mizzou leads the all-time series, 8-0.
- Mizzou leads all-time matches played in Columbia, Mo., 6-0.
- In the last meeting, Mizzou claimed a 3-1 victory over Mississippi State on Oct. 23, 2015, in Columbia, Mo.
Sunday Fan Promotions at Hearnes
- Annual "Black Out" game, as fans are encouraged to wear black while cheering on the Tigers!
- Fans who arrive in black attire will receive $2 admission.
- Free admission for fans who present a ticket stub from Mizzou Football's matchup against Kentucky (Saturday, Oct. 29).
- The popular Kids Karnival returns once again this season inside the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse. Tigers fans are encouraged to arrive early prior to Sunday's match for new fun-filled games, bounce house and face painting.
- The 2016 Mizzou Volleyball squad will be on-court following the match to autograph this year's team poster.
Season High 13-Match Winning Streak Ends
- Mizzou suffered its first loss in SEC play this season on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Texas A&M while also seeing its season high 13-match winning streak get snapped.
- Following an injury in the first set, the Tigers were suddenly without two of their top three options at outside hitter. Mizzou saw contributions from many newcomers in the match and fought hard, but ultimately fell 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 23-25) to the host Aggies.
- Despite the loss Wednesday inside Reed Arena, many Tigers posted standout individual matches. Redshirt junior Kira Larson led the way on offense with 15 kills on .375 hitting. Senior Emily Thater tallied her third consecutive strong match, as she recorded 11 kills on .364 hitting.
- Senior Carly Kan was all over the court for Mizzou, posting her team-leading ninth double-double this year (14 kills, 13 digs).
- After the aforementioned injury in the opening set, sophomore Paige Perego stepped in for the Tigers and made her 2016 season debut. Perego finished with five kills, two digs and two total blocks.
Tigers Own Impressive History Against the Bulldogs
- Heading into Sunday afternoon's contest against Mississippi State, Mizzou has traditionally had its number in the all-time series.
- In fact, the Tigers are a perfect 8-0 in the all-time series, including an unblemished 6-0 mark at the Hearnes Center.
- In those six matches played in Mid-Missouri, the Tigers have posted five sweeps.
