Jefferson City native Sarah Luebbert is enrolled at Mizzou this semester and will participate in Mizzou’s spring season
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou head soccer coach Bryan Blitz announced that midfielder Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) has signed with the Tiger program. Luebbert, a two-time invitee to the Nike National Training Camp, is already enrolled at the University of Missouri and attending classes this semester and will participate in Mizzou's spring season.
"We are thrilled to have Sarah join our team a semester early," Blitz said. "She is a hardworking, talented attacking player from right here in mid-Missouri, who we feel will be able to compete right away for playing time in our program.
"In addition, we are thankful to her high school coach (Eddie Horn) and club coaches at Scott Gallagher (Scott McDoniel and Ralph Richards) for their guidance and training in helping prepare Sarah to begin college early. She will benefit by being able to work and train with our coaches and team during the spring. We are excited about her future in our program over the next four years."
Luebbert attended the Nike National Training Camp in the summers of 2015 and 2014, which is based on their performances at Elite Club National League (ECNL) competitions. In 2015, Luebbert was one of 29 seniors in attendance.
"When I was younger, I would go to Mizzou soccer games to be a ball girl and get the players' autographs afterward," Luebbert said. "Those games were the first college soccer games I had ever been to. I chose Mizzou because I believe the best place for me to play college soccer is where I first experienced it."
A midfielder, Luebbert scored 20 goals and had 19 assists as a junior for Jefferson City High School as a junior in 2015 en route to all-district first team honors. Luebbert claimed all-state first team accolades as a sophomore in 2014, as well as Missouri Soccer Coaches Class 3 Central Missouri All-Region Player of the Year honors. Over her three-year high school career, she accumulated 53 goals and 57 assists for 163 points.
At the club level, Luebbert played for St. Louis Scott Gallagher and helped the team to a second-place showing at the ECNL North American League nationals in 2015.
