COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball once again posted a strong showing in the classroom, as the team accumulated an impressive 3.675 GPA during the Summer 2016 semester. This year's standout performance marked the Tigers' fourth consecutive summer with a 3.50-plus GPA.
10 Tigers tallied a perfect 4.00 GPA, while 13 total individuals claimed a 3.00 or greater GPA over the nearly two-month semester.
"It has been a special academic year for us and this is yet another addition to an impressive resume," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "Even in the summer and offseason we have voluntary workouts and practices, so the ability to continue high academic success while training for the upcoming 2016 season is really impressive."
The Tigers have enjoyed academic excellence throughout the 2015-16 school year. In July, Mizzou earned its third consecutive American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. Additionally, the Tigers produced a cumulative 3.57 GPA over the Spring 2016 semester and 3.55 GPA over the Fall 2015 semester.
Mizzou Volleyball was among the 131 total NCAA Division I programs to be honored by the AVCA for their exceptional academic success.
The Tigers' cumulative 3.57 Spring 2016 GPA established itself as the highest GPA in program history. Additionally, it marked the highest team GPA among the 18 intercollegiate athletics programs on Mizzou's campus.
Mizzou Volleyball has enjoyed outstanding academic success over the past decade. Since 2004, the Tigers have exceeded a 3.00 cumulative GPA in 21-of-25 combined Fall and Spring semesters.
