@MizzouVB Records Historic Spring 2016 Academic Success

Mizzou Volleyball once again delivered outstanding results in the classroom, as it excelled over the Spring 2016 semester. Overall, the Tigers posted a cumulative 3.57 grade point average this past semester, marking the highest ever GPA in program history.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball once again delivered outstanding results in the classroom, as it excelled over the Spring 2016 semester. Overall, the Tigers posted a cumulative 3.57 grade point average this past semester, marking the highest ever GPA in program history.

The 3.57 Mizzou Volleyball team GPA also established itself as the highest team GPA among the 18 intercollegiate athletics programs on campus. Previously, Mizzou's top collective effort in the classroom occurred during the 2015 Fall and Spring semesters. The Tigers tallied a 3.55 GPA in each semester, respectively.  

"I'm always extremely proud of our success in the classroom, but this effort during the Spring 2016 semester was outstanding," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "Our group of student-athletes work tirelessly both on the volleyball court and in the classroom. I'm really proud of everyone, as an accomplishment like this is a true team effort."

Individually, during the Spring 2016 semester, four student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA, four student-athletes posted a GPA between 3.50-3.99 and five student-athletes finished with a GPA between 3.00-3.49.

High success rates in the classroom is nothing new to Mizzou Volleyball as it tallied a 3.62 GPA during the Summer 2015 semester and a cumulative 3.51 GPA during the 2014-15 school year at the University of Missouri. Additionally, over their respective academic careers in Columbia, Mo., the current group of Tigers have an astounding 3.60 cumulative GPA.

In April, Mizzou Volleyball was one of four athletics programs to be honored for outstanding academic success by the NCAA. The Tigers' APR score for the 2014-15 academic year was in the Top 10 percent of all Division I Volleyball programs.

Since 2004, Mizzou Volleyball has produced consistent success in the classroom. In the 25 combined Fall and Spring semesters, the Tigers have exceeded a 3.00 cumulative GPA an incredible 21 times.
