COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Tigers' cross country program will be hosting a five-day intensive camp this summer (June 19-23, 2016) for middle school and high school athletes and teams, ages 12 to 18.
Designed to educate young student-athletes about how to become better distance runners and leaders, the camp will be led by head cross country coach Marc Burns, assistant coach Eileen Halter, current student-athletes, and various other members of the Mizzou staff. Our hope is to provide a fun, exciting environment for campers to learn how to compete at the highest level and make their team better in the process. The camp will provide some great instructional tools, but will also teach campers the secrets of success on a daily basis.
The camp will also host two guest speakers - Tim Broe (2004 U.S. Olympian in the 5000m), and Sean O'Connor (USTFCCCA Boys High School Coach of the Year in Missouri) to present on a variety of topics, including:
- High performance nutrition
- Sport psychology
- Race tactics
- Injury prevention
- Strength and conditioning
- Benefits of general strength/core routines
