The day kicked off with a pair of PR's in the women's field events, starting with an All-Time Top Ten performance from freshman Gabi Jacobs in the discus. Jacobs hit a top mark of 50.67m (166-3) during the preliminary round, tying her with Krishna Lee as No. 5 in the Mizzou record books.
In the women's hammer throw, freshman Becky Keating also broke her way into the Mizzou history books for the first time. Her PR toss of 56.87m (186-7) in the hammer throw landed her at No. 8 All-Time.
Senior Markesh Woodson kicked off the events on the track with a top-15 finish in the men's 100m dash. In his first race since the NCAA Indoor Championships last month, Woodson placed 13th with a final time of 10.34.
Up next was the women's 100m dash, where junior LaQuisha Jackson had her first of two PR finishes for the day. Jackson solidified herself in the No. 3 position in the Mizzou All-Time Top Ten for the event after crossing in 11.47 for 13th overall. She followed performance up with a huge PR in the 200m dash, cruising through in 23.10 to drop her own school record in the event (23.52) by over 0.40-seconds.
In the mid-distance events, sophomore Valeska Halamicek just missed a spot in the All-Time Top Ten after she crossed in 2:08.87 to place 18th in the elite field.
Sophomore Karissa Schweizer had quite the season debut Friday afternoon, opening up her outdoor campaign with a PR in the 1500m run. She placed 12th in the competitive field with a final time of 4:23.11, the seventh-fastest time in Mizzou history.
Junior Teylar Adelsberger closed out the evening's events for the Tigers in Gainesville with yet another All-Time Top Ten performance. In her first 3000m steeplechase of the year, Adelsberger crossed with a new PR of 10:24.52 to earn the No. 3 spot in the Mizzou history books.
The group of Tigers on the east side of the state also saw a series of exciting performances, including event wins from junior Lynnsey Brim (long jump), freshman Bri Gibbs (pole vault), and freshman Will Fife (shot put). Brim and Gibbs both departed the competition with new PR's in their respective events, including a new All-Time Top Ten performer in Gibbs (No. 10).
