Tigers' 11-game road winning streak ends in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Missouri Tigers had an early lead, but couldn't make it hold as Kentucky posted a 21-13 win Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium. The Wildcats' win snaps Mizzou's 11-game road winning streak, dating back to the 2012 season finale.
The Tigers (3-1, 0-1 SEC) struck first, when Maty Mauk found J'Mon Moore open in the back of the end zone with 3:49 left in the first quarter. Mauk had plenty of time in the pocket, scanned through his options, and lofted an easy ball from 17 yards out.
Midway through the third quarter, Mauk countered the aggressive Wildcat pass rush with a 28-yard screen pass to Tyler Hunt down to the UK 25-yard line. Four plays later, Andrew Baggett converted a 39-yard field goal to give Mizzou a 10-7 lead.
The Wildcats (3-1, 2-1 SEC) took the lead on the ensuing drive, going 75 yards to go up 14-10 on a 24-yard scoring pass from Patrick Towles to C.J. Conrad. Kentucky would extend the lead to 21-10 with 6:20 left on a Dorian Baker 5-yard TD reception.
The Tigers return home to the friendly confines of The Zou next Saturday, Oct. 3, vs. South Carolina.
