Tigers are coming off 3-0 season opening weekend at Tiger Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – A week after a perfect 3-0 season-opening tournament, Mizzou Volleyball begins its first road trip of the year this weekend in Tampa, Florida, at the South Florida Invitational. The Tigers will be joined by Arkansas State, Florida Gulf Coast and South Florida for the 2-day invite.
Mizzou begins action on Friday with a 3:30 p.m. (CT) first serve against Florida Gulf Coast. Saturday brings a pair of contests to close out the invite for the Tigers, as they face Arkansas State at 10 a.m. (CT) and South Florida at 6 p.m. (CT).

QUICK DIGS
- Mizzou opened its season last Friday night at the Hearnes Center, earning a thrilling 3-2 victory over North Dakota State. The Tigers used a 12-3 run in the fifth set to clinch the season opening win.
- Junior outside hitter Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) picked up 21 kills on .432 hitting with 15 digs. Freshman middle blocker Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) had a memorable collegiate debut, finishing with 10 kills and eight blocks.
- In day two of the Tiger Invitational, Mizzou enjoyed consecutive sweeps to seal the event championship. Against Winthrop, the Tigers rolled to a 3-0 sweep and hit .343 (42 kills) as a team. In the weekend finale against North Texas, the Tigers saved their best for last as they hit .411 (43 kills) and swept North Texas 3-0.
- Kan, Munlyn and redshirt sophomore Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) were all named to the 2015 Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team following strong performances. Kan earned tournament MVP honors after recording 50 kills on .430 hitting and two double-doubles.
- Mizzou's .348 team hitting percentage currently ranks first in the SEC after the conference's opening weekend. That number is 0.49 points more than second-place Tennessee (.299).
- The Tigers' strong performance at the net also ranks highly in the SEC. Their 2.45 blocks per set currently ranks third in the conference.
- Individually, Kan's 50 kills are tops in the SEC after the opening weekend, and Munlyn's 1.45 blocks per set are second-best in the conference.
UP NEXT
Following this weekend's South Florida Invitational, the Tigers hit the road again for the Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, North Carolina. Mizzou begins the invite against host Appalachian State on Friday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. (CT).
On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Tigers compete in two contests to close the tournament with Charlotte set for 9 a.m. (CT) and Liberty at 3 p.m. (CT).
