Head coach Ehren Earleywine secured his 400th win at Mizzou
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - No. 20 Mizzou Softball run-ruled Arkansas for the third straight game, beating the Razorbacks 10-0 in six innings. The Tigers completed the series sweep and handed head coach Ehren Earleywine his 400th win at Mizzou. His squad outscored Arkansas 30-1 during the three contests and the Tigers have won six in a row since taking the rubber match over Mississippi State last weekend.
Junior Taylor Gadbois (Maryville, Mo.) wreaked havoc on the base paths. The speedster went 4-for-5 at the plate with three steals and two runs scored. She helped the Tigers take an early lead in the first inning when she singled, swiped second and came around to score on a fielder's choice.
Mizzou steadily increased its lead throughout the afternoon. In the third inning, sophomore Kirsten Mack (Riverside, Calif.) drove in two runs with an RBI double in the gap. Mack reached base three times on Sunday and collected three RBI.
The Tigers tacked on a run in the fifth inning to take a 4-0 lead before breaking things wide open in the sixth frame. Mizzou scored six runs in the inning and five runners crossed the plate with two outs. Once again, Gadbois started the rally. The 2014 All-American beat out an infield single to first, stole second and scored following a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly.
Freshman Amanda Sanchez (West Covina, Calif.) kept the inning alive by roping a double. Then Mack walked to set the table for pinch-hitter Morgan Walters (Buford, Ga.), who blasted her first career home run, a three-run long ball over the centerfield wall.
Later in the same inning, senior Angela Randazzo (Poway, Calif.) hit a two-run home run to round out the Tigers' scoring. Mizzou now has 55 home runs as a team in 2015, which now ranks seventh all-time in school history for a single season.
In the circle, sophomore Tori Finucane (Germantown, M.D.) picked up another win to improve to 17-6 on the season. She threw 9.0 innings combined against Arkansas in the series, allowing just eight hits and zero runs while fanning 12 total batters.
The Tigers are slated for a pair of midweek clashes with Iowa and Missouri State on Wednesday and Thursday before hosting a three-game series vs. No. 3 LSU at University Field next weekend.
