OXFORD, Miss. - Mizzou tennis ended their long stretch away from home with a contest at No. 17 Ole Miss Sunday afternoon. The host Rebels had the upper hand throughout the day, as they defeated the Tigers 7-0.
Mizzou dropped to 8-7 overall this spring with the loss. Junior Kelli Hine forced a third set at No. 1 singles, but ultimately dropped her individual contest.
In the other five singles contests today, the Tigers failed to record a set victory. Over in doubles play, No. 1 duo of sophomore Cassidy Spearman and freshman Brianna Lashway were locked-in to a thrilling 6-5 score but the match was halted due to Ole Miss already claiming the doubles team point.
Up next for the Tigers is a pair of weekend matches in Columbia, Mo. against SEC opponents. On Friday, March 13, Mizzou welcomes No. 26 South Carolina while on Sunday, March 15 the No. 2 Florida Gators visit mid-Missouri.
First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. (CT) and 12 p.m. (CT) at the Mizzou Tennis Complex, respectively.
