
Tennis Falls At No. 59 Mississippi State, 4-0

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mizzou tennis kicked off yet another weekend road trip Friday evening, and dropped a 4-0 contest to No. 59 Mississippi State. The host Bulldogs had control over the Tigers from the start, as they claimed all of the afternoon's matches in succession.
Friday afternoon in Starkville began at doubles play with the Tigers battling hard in each match. Mizzou fell in the No. 2 and No. 1 matchups to give the first team point to Mississippi State. Sophomores Brittany Lashway and Beatriz Machado Santos held a 7-4 lead at No. 3 play before play was halted due to the Bulldogs already winning two-of-three.
At singles, the Bulldogs took home the first three victories and secured the overall team win. Junior Kelli Hine was on her way to evening her No. 1 singles matchup at a set apiece before play was suspended.
Also playing well for the Tigers at singles was Brittany Lashway, as she held a 1-0 set advantage and was leading 4-1 in the second set before play ended.
Up next for Mizzou is a visit to Oxford, Miss. on Sunday, March 8. The Tigers and No. 17 Ole Miss are set for a 1 p.m. (CT) first serve. Fans can follow the action on Twitter (@MizzouTennis) and OleMissSports.com.
