GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Mizzou swimming and diving team continued its strong performance at the 2015 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships with six individual and one All-America honors during day two competition on Friday. With one day remaining, the Tigers sit in 10th-place with 90 points.
Two days into the three day event, all six of Mizzou's individual qualifiers (five swimmers and one diver) have earned All-America honors. On Friday, senior Danielle Barbiea earned first team honors in the 100 fly, while five different Tigers claimed individual honorable mention accolades: freshman Sharli Brady (400 IM), redshirt junior Abby Duncan (100 breast), junior Lauren Reedy (3-meter springboard), sophomore Katharine Ross (100 breast) and freshman Hannah Stevens (100 back). Additionally, the 200 medley relay team took home first team honors.
Barbiea earned the first individual All-America first team honor of her career with a seventh-place finish in the 100 fly. A two-time honorable mention All-American in the event after finishes of 13th in 2014 and 15th in 2013, Barbiea touched the wall in 51.73 in the championship final to take seventh.
A day after placing fourth in the 400 medley relay, Missouri's 200 medley relay team earned All-America first team honors with a seventh-place finish in finals. It is the first time two Mizzou relays claimed top-eight finishes in one Championship. The Tiger foursome of freshman Hannah Stevens, sophomore Katharine Ross, Barbiea and junior Anna Patterson set a school record in prelims with a swim of 1:37.08 to earn their spot in the championship final. In finals, the Tigers finished seventh in a time of 1:37.35.
On the 3-meter springboard, Reedy won the consolation final to take ninth overall and earn her first All-America honor. The junior rallied late in prelims with final dives of 69.0 and 71.3 points to jump to advance to the consolation final. Reedy then scored a career high 363.00 points in finals, including scores of 60 or higher in five of her six dives, to take ninth.
Brady continued her late season emergence with a 12th-place finish in the 400 IM. The freshman initially broke her own school record with a 4:08.41 in prelims to qualify for the consolation final. Then, Brady dropped her program mark with a finals time of 4:08.01 and claim the first All-America honor of her career.
Missouri had two top-14 finishers in the 100 breast, as Duncan and Ross each swam in Friday night consolation finals. Duncan clocked a 59.71 to take 13th overall, one spot ahead of teammate Ross, who was 14th in 1:00.34. In prelims, Ross swam a 59.72 and Duncan a 59.86.
