
Mizzou Athletics Partners with Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Autism-friendly business practices to be brought to Mizzou Arena
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Athletics will partner with the University of Missouri's Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, bringing autism-friendly business practices to Mizzou Arena for the upcoming men's and women's basketball seasons, it was announced by the two organizations.
"Mizzou Athletics is committed to providing the absolute best fan experience possible to those who visit our facilities," said Associate Director of Event Management Krissy Ellis. "That commitment will not yield to any circumstances presented by our special needs patrons."
In coordination with the Thompson Center, Mizzou's staff members will be trained to provide a comfortable atmosphere for fans with neurological disorders, particularly children with autism.
"Our staff members serving our guests at Mizzou Arena are being trained to provide autism-friendly business practices which supports our goal of continually enhancing the Mizzou Gameday atmosphere," said Ellis.
The Thompson Center, created in 2005, is a national leader in confronting the challenges of autism & other developmental conditions through its collaborative research, training and service programs.
