Second season of the Kim Anderson era begins with solid team chemistry
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Basketball began its 2015-16 season with its first official team practice Sunday afternoon, kicking off head coach Kim Anderson's second campaign leading the Tigers. The 15-member Black & Gold squad returns six letterwinners and three starters from last season's young group.
Adding six scholarship newcomers, Anderson's focus has been on helping each Tiger develop offensively, while also fostering a higher level of team chemistry.
"I'm excited to get this started," Anderson said. "We have things we'll be working on right away that will be important to our success this season. We're asking our guys to buy in physically and emotionally immediately."
Anderson and his staff had time to begin growing the squad's comfort level during the spring and summer months, using individual workouts and an offseason program to build familiarity between old teammates and newcomers.
"This group had a great offseason together," Anderson said. "I had a lot of fun working with them over the summer, and I think they really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. A lot of improvement was made in the weight room, which is really important for this team."
Mizzou starts the 2015-16 campaign with an exhibition vs. Missouri Western on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in Mizzou Arena. The game broadcast will be available on SEC Network + and the Tiger Radio Network. The full schedule can be viewed here.
