Tigers shoot 285 (-3) in middle round
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Mizzou Women's Golf shot 3-under par as a team with a 285 during the second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Monday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Tigers are a total 14-under par through the first two rounds.
"We had a lot of opportunities today and had a hard time finding the bottom of the cup," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "The weather was perfect and scores were low. We are in good shape and the team is fired up for another day on the course tomorrow."
Senior Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Fla.) led the way with a 3-under par round of 69. Butler birdied four of the last five holes and had six birdies overall. Freshman Emma Allen (Southampton, England) shot a 2-under 70 and notched four birdies, including three of the first five holes on the back nine. She is tied for 20th overall individually at 5-under for the tournament.
Junior Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland) carded an even par 72 and is tied for 26th individually at 4-under over the first two rounds. Sophomore Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) shot a 74 (+2) while freshman Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) finished with a 75 (+3). Senior Haelena Schwemmer (O'Fallon, Mo.) also shot 75 (+3) while competing as an individual.
San Jose State leads the 19 teams in the field at 26-under par, followed by Michigan (-22) and Vanderbilt (-21).
