COLUMBIA, Mo. -The Mizzou soccer team (4-3-4, 2-1-1) returns to Walton Stadium this weekend to host the Ole Miss Rebels on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m.The match will be broadcast live on SEC Network and the WatchESPN app.
TIGER TIDBITS
- Ole Miss leads the all-time series 2-1-1, while Mizzou is 1-0-1 since joining the league.
- Last season, the two teams played to a 3-3 double-overtime tie in Oxford. The Rebels had a 2-0 hafltime lead but three second half goals for the Tigers were good for the tie.
- Missouri is ranked 34th in the second RPI of the season, the only four-win squad in the top 48. Eight different SEC programs are in the top 41, including Ole Miss one spot ahead of Mizzou at 33.
- The Tigers went 1-0-1 last weekend on the road, including a big 3-1 defeat over No. 9/22 Kentucky on Sept. 25. Mizzou scored three first half goals in the win.
- Sophomore Savannah Trujillo tallied goals in both games last weekend and now has four total on the season and three in SEC play. Her three league goals ranks fourth among all SEC players.
- Also finding the scoring column for the first time this season were redshirt junior Jessica Herrman and sophomore Jessica Johnson.
- Mizzou has allowed only four goals through the first four SEC matches, a total that's tied four second in the league. South Carolina has allowed two, while Mississippi State and Tennessee have both allowed four as well.
- Redshirt sophomore keeper Kristen Rivers earned her first career start in Mizzou's game against South Carolina on Sept. 20. She held a Gamecock offense that came in averaging 3.2 goals per game to only one, and made four saves in net. She played all 200 minutes in goal against Kentucky and Mississippi State last weekend and allowed one goal in each contest.
- The Tigers two goals against previously undefeated Auburn were the first goals of the season allowed by the Auburn defense, which entered that match with six consecutive shutouts to open 2015.
- 2015 marks the 20th season of Mizzou soccer, as the program started in 1996 under the direction of current Head Coach Bryan Blitz. Blitz and the Tigers own identical 212-167-28 records in 20 seasons.
