Opening statement...
"It was a good win for us. We had struggled a little bit lately. We've played some good teams pretty well, but we couldn't get over the hump. Today, I was happy that we could finally come back and get a lead in the game. Lipscomb is a team that plays a lot of motion offense which means you got a lot of guys moving around. You have to play some big guys guarding the perimeter. I thought coming into the game that it would be a great test for us. For a while, we didn't do so well at it but as the game went on we changed some things defensively. At halftime we talked about doing some different things. We started switching some screens and it made us a little more aggressive. We got some stops. I was happy to win, but I was really happy for a couple of these guys. Keanau (Post) and Tramaine (Isabell) both worked hard. Keanau in particular had a couple games off, but he never complained about his playing time. He just kept working and he was rewarded today. That's what it's all about. It was a good win and a great way to start the New Year."
On Keanau Post's strong game tonight...
"Here's the thing about Keanau Post. I didn't play him the last few games, because I didn't think he was playing well enough. It's not that I didn't think he was working hard enough. He never said a word about it. He came to practice, worked hard and put in extra time. He never complained. In Division I college basketball today that doesn't happen all the time. He got his opportunity tonight and he made the most of it. I'm just happy for him. He's a great guy and his teammates like him."
On Keith Shamburger's consistent effort each game...
"He's a guy that knows how to play. He's got good experience and he has maturity. Offensively, I think he's better than maybe he's shown thus far this season. He has the ability to knock shots down. He shoots the ball well in practice, and he rarely takes bad shots. We need him to be more aggressive. I was happy that he was able to do that tonight. He's pretty steady and doesn't make a lot of mistakes."
On the status of the team entering SEC play...
"I think we're getting better. We continue to fight some obstacles. We've had guys get hurt, suspended or whatever the deal is. You try to put together a rotation and get a feel for these guys. That has been a challenge, but you know what they've worked hard. We've definitely gotten better. I know once we hit SEC play that it's going to be really hard. There's some great teams in our league. We'll play well and get better as the season goes along. If we do that then I'll be happy with the results."
Mizzou Player Quotes
On having a solid post game from Keanau tonight...
"He does it every day in practice. So, that is what we expect him to do. Like I told him, we have a lot of confidence in him whether he plays or not. We see him in practice and we saw what he can do before the season, so this is nothing new to us. We just want to see him do it every night, we know he is capable of doing it every night."
On being more aggressive in his shooting tonight...
"I just have a different mindset period, now. I had someone call me the other day and say this is my last three months of college basketball. So, that is how I have to look at it. I am trying to get as many wins as I can and go from there. That is how I have to look at it from now on. This is my last three months, so I just have to make a push and do as best as I can."
On the spark that was needed during the game...
"I just think we needed to get stops. Once we got stops, the game turned around. We thank everybody for coming out tonight. I think was the biggest home crowd we had all season without the students and it came out to be a good outcome. We felt the great atmosphere out there and we just wanted to get the win."
On sitting out previous two games and his mindset going into this afternoon's game...
"Before the game, Coach just told me to be prepared. I just kept my mind right and ready to come in once my number was called."
On the difficulty of sitting out the previous two games...
"For every player, it is a little frustrating at times, but I am just trying to be there for my teammates and my team. I was just as much into it as the guys on the court were. It wasn't that bad."
On the key to extending his outstanding play into future games...
"I am going to approach every game like I did today. I don't really think about the last. I am just going to relax and be prepared to come in."
Freshman Guard Tramaine Isabell
On being more settled in during the last few games...
"Yes, I am starting to feel a bit more comfortable. The first part of the season I didn't really think the freshman thing was a big deal, but it is a change of pace. Everything is different from what you are used to in high school. I think I am starting to get more acclimated as to how I am supposed to play and the pace and everything else like that."
On Wes Clark's block in the second half...
"Wes is super athletic and we see it all the time. He does stuff I wish I could do. He dunks the ball, he is always in attack mode even on defense, he is super aggressive. It didn't really surprise me that much. I think that play gave us the extra boost. That play was a homerun layup and he just made an outstanding play."
On Keanau's play today and the spark he ignited...
"With Keanau being out there, I really think all of us were just proud of him. We see it all the time. I see a lot of potential in him. When he is out there, I am sure you guys see me always congratulating him and being happy for him. I have been telling him to stay focused because some point we are going to need you. You are the biggest guy on the team and you are going to make an impact somehow."
Lipscomb Head Coach Casey Alexander
On missing the presence of Malcom Smith...
"We definitely missed him he's a real significant contributor. He put up seven points in the six minutes he did play. He's a significant contributor for us off the bench, he plays a lot of minutes. But to compound the problem, both {Brett} Wishon and {Talbott} Denny had foul trouble. Those three guys play essentially the same spot, so our rotation was screwy for a long time.
Freshman Guard, Nathan Moran
On playing an SEC opponent...
"I was just trying to play basketball. There's nothing special I was trying to do. I was just trying to play and help us win, unfortunately we couldn't do that."
