Mizzou Baseball Ranked in Four of the Major Top-25 Polls

April 6, 2015

Mizzou is ranked in four of the five major top-25 polls.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Fresh off of a series win over then No. 4 Florida, Mizzou baseball has found itself ranked among four of the major five top-25 polls on Monday. The Tigers rank as high as No. 16 nationally by Collegiate Baseball and are in the top 20 in three of the four polls in which they are ranked. The Tigers check in at No. 23 in the Coaches Poll, No. 20 by Baseball America and No. 19 by D1Baseball.com.

The consensus top-25 ranking for the Tigers marks the first time since 2009 that they have been ranked in at least four polls during the same week. Mizzou is 22-11 on the year and owns an 8-4 record in SEC play, ranking it second in the SEC East, trailing only defending national champion and top-ranked Vanderbilt. Mizzou also owns tiebreakers with series wins over the next three teams in the SEC East standings (Florida, South Carolina and Georgia). Mizzou has won three of its four weekend SEC series and boasts five wins over top-10 teams and three over top-five teams. The only series loss in SEC play came at No. 1 Texas A&M but Mizzou did hand the Aggies one of their two losses in that series.

One of the top turn-around stories in college baseball, Mizzou has already surpassed both its overall win total (20) and SEC win total (six) from a season ago.

Mizzou is back in action this weekend for a three-game series in Knoxville against Tennessee. Game one will be Thursday at 6 p.m. on SEC Network. For all the latest on Mizzou baseball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MizzouBaseball.
