Clark Thomas Punches Ticket to NCAA Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa. - Mizzou junior diver Clark Thomas (Olathe, Kan.) won the 1-meter title at the NCAA Zone D Championships Monday in Iowa City, Iowa, to punch his ticket to the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Clark, a two-time honorable mention All-American, qualified for his third straight NCAA Championships.

The 2015 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships take place March 26-28 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Thomas claimed the 1-meter win after totaling 792.10 points combined in prelims and finals. He earned a spot in finals after a career best score of 398.60 in prelims to enter finals with a 12-point edge over second-place. Thomas then notched 393.50 points in finals to earn the win and advance to NCAAs.

The junior has now qualified for the NCAA Championships all three seasons of his Tiger career. As a sophomore in 2014, Thomas placed ninth on 3-meter and 14th on 1-meter at NCAAs to earn his two honorable mention All-America honors.

Also competing at 1-meter at Zones was freshman Elliot Cecil (Fishers, Ind.), who placed 24th with 260.50 points.

Men's competition at the Zone D Championships continues Tuesday with 3-meter prelims at 11 a.m.
